For a couple weeks and trying to follow it, I gave up. It seemed utterly confusing introducing new words without a definition of them was a common problem. I couldn't navigate to situations I wanted to, so I decided to cancel it. What a mistake that was! They said I was over the 20 days and I could not cancel or get any refund. I'm now with two other language courses and there's so much easier to use. I highly recommend using something else other than babble

The app overall is great. It's got a great selection of grammar and spaced repetition that makes it one of the best out there.
I sometimes wonder whether the spaced repetition reviews should be more forced to be mixed. It would be good to be able to personalise the images chosen for some of the spaced repetition things, and add my own content to the spaced repetition practice.
I particularly enjoy the group lessons if you can afford this. It gives some great feedback from fluent speakers, and interactions with other speakers.

Seriously dreadful! I learnt nothing so stopped using it. I then got no notice and automatic renewal took £65.88.

Do not use this app! I’m locked in for another 12 months. I’m so angry at myself for not checking the auto-renewal. It’s a lot of money for basic pointless learning of sentences rather than proper learning of the language. It’s for tourists who visit Spain occasionally- NOT for those who seriously want to develop their language skills. RUBBISH!

Subscription: Are you signed up for an automatic renewal? You need to check to see if you are as they will automatically draw money from your account without prior notification. Their resolution to my cancellation was to return 1/2 of the payment and not to give me a full refund. My request to cancel the subscription was on the very same day they drew money. Needless to say I am extremely unhappy with their feable attempt at cancelling my subscription and for charging me for a service I no longer needed nor wanted.

Having just started my course, it's a bit early to say. But I want to say 'so far, so good'.
Still navigating my way round all the lessons. But I do feel like I'm learning something, which is what it's all about.

Advertising for AI but only getting set conversations
Was then told that I had to switch to American English versus British English, still no success
Extremely disappointed
Support wasn t good either, sending emails regarding this and waiting a long time for response

Bad methods to test knowledge - too easy in multiple choice, if you hear one word you know the right answer because the other options are all random/nonsensical
Can often get to the right answer without really learning
Boring methods of introducing new words which are too repetitive or specific

It is a excellent language learning application but I wish they had more languages on there.

You will not get a reminder in prior to when it´s renewed and will cost You for a new period of time.
They can ofcourse see that I didn´t use the app (due to lack of time) and I didn´s want to continue.

I understand that it´s my responsibility ofcourse, but where is the service mind?

"It´s not possible to send money back", why?!

Ofcourse it´s possible if You have some sort of service mind.

I am relatively new to Babbel and when I tested Babbel in December 2024, I appreciated the fact that I could pace myself, take notes as I learned, and repeat dialogues to slow them down. After being away for a month, I recently began using the French program and immediately realized that the platform is now different from the platform that I purchased. Rather than being able to go at my own speed, the ‘slides’ auto advance - sometimes so quickly that I cannot even read the translation or the ‘info bubble’. There is no time to take notes or study spelling or simply look at sentence constructions. Isn’t this part of learning a language? When repeating the audio, it often does not repeat at a slower pace and is so fast that there is no point in repeating it. There are technical glitches where I have found that some of the dialogues do not scroll so you cannot see the next question or the part to which you are supposed to respond. When I went to the chat bubble to voice my dismay, AI responded that this is now a Beta version…. But I did not subscribe to the Beta version! When I contacted customer service, the response was exactly the same as AI – essentially, too bad for me! I was told that if I want to learn, then use the back arrow… so every slide that auto advances (most of them) I now have to use the back arrow! This platform is hardly useful for someone who already knows the language and wants to review/refresh their skills. Beware - the NEW Babbel is NOT a learning platform (as maybe it once was). Their new Beta version is a complete failure. Look elsewhere if you truly want to learn or review a language.

It’s a great, lightweight and fun way to learn, it doesn’t feel like a chore or a task, it’s just great and very accessible ! It is one of the most important decisions of self-development and it’s worth it !

I had to suspend my subscription for a while due to serious health issues, and after years of loyalty to the company, they didn’t want to pause it or possibly add some complementary months despite the fact it’s clear from their side that I haven’t used the app or attended the courses. Really disappointing.

I love my tutors! I love the fact that I can choose their native tounge as well as have afforable options so i can continue learning! I also love how they've incorporated learning games while I wait for my tutor and after!
